Spring Walk Along the Waterfront of Krk

There’s a calmness to early spring on the island of Krk — a quiet stretch between winter’s stillness and the first wave of summer visitors. The light feels softer, the air fresher, and the harbor gently stirs back to life.

This photograph, taken on March 17th, 2024, captures a couple walking hand in hand along Krk’s waterfront. The calm sea reflects the masts of small boats while the city’s bell tower rises behind them — a familiar landmark that watches over the old town. The moment feels ordinary yet cinematic, a small reminder of how peaceful island life can be before the season begins.

I’ve always found something grounding about photographing these early transitions — when a place hasn’t yet woken up fully, and every sound still echoes softly across the water. Krk, in this moment, felt both timeless and present, carrying the quiet promise of warmer days ahead.

If you ever visit the island outside the busy months, take a walk by the marina. Listen to the sea, feel the stillness, and let the rhythm of the island remind you to slow down.
