I’ve experimented with black and white photography a few times during my photography career, but I’ve always leaned toward color. It felt more natural to me and suited the photos I took.
In November 2022, I bought the Fujifilm X100V (one day, I’ll write about why I chose it), and like many owners of this camera, I started exploring its film simulations. It’s a really cool option to have, especially if you prefer shooting only in JPEG (although I’m a RAW guy), but it wasn’t quite for me.
In September 2024, I decided to set my X100V to shoot in RAW + JPEG, making the JPEGs black and white using film simulations. Since I got some great shots with this experiment, I’ve decided to share them. I’m continuing with the experiment for… who knows. Until I get bored, I guess.
These photos showcase the Zagreb Fair (Cro. Zagrebački Velesajam). The Zagreb Fair is the most well-known venue in Zagreb, where various events take place throughout the year, usually trade fairs. Unfortunately, it’s used less and less nowadays, and it’s in quite poor condition.
Non of these photos was edited later, it was all Acros film simulation directly from the camera (ok, I may have only changed the angle of some photos).
