During May 2024, I went on a roadtrip around Dalmatia, visiting the island of Pag, Zadar, Nin, Šibenik, Split, and a couple of other interesting places. One of those really cool places was the Klis Fortress.
I can’t wait to share more about that spring roadtrip experience (some of those posts are already published on Croatia Captured, so you can read more about it there), but here I want to start with this place.
I LOVE visiting old towns, castles, and ancient ruins of past cities, and Klis provided that feeling I get from visiting places like that.
Visiting Klis Fortress for the first time was an exciting experience! I was immediately struck by the sheer size of the fortress. Walking through its ancient corridors and exploring every stone and path felt like stepping back in time. The architecture and historical significance of Klis Fortress were fascinating, and I enjoyed every moment of my visit. Despite the number of tourists, the vastness of the fortress ensured it never felt overcrowded, allowing for a peaceful and immersive experience.
I was particularly impressed by the breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Every corner of the fortress offered a new vantage point, perfect for capturing stunning photographs. I made sure to walk every meter of the fortress, documenting its impressive structure and the beautiful scenery around it. Klis Fortress is undoubtedly a must-visit destination for anyone interested in history, architecture, or simply looking for a unique travel experience in Croatia.
