During a one-day road trip to the northern part of Croatia, I had the chance to visit Ludbreg for the first time. With no specific plan in mind, the goal was simple — explore, walk around, and photograph whatever caught my attention. It didn’t take long before something interesting popped up: a giant mural of the moon covering the side of a building.
The photo captures a quiet street in Ludbreg, with the oversized moon mural as the main visual focus. It’s painted across the side of a hotel, standing out against the otherwise ordinary surroundings. The clear sky and empty road add to the feeling of calmness, making the mural even more striking. I liked the contrast between everyday life and this unexpected piece of street art.
What made this scene memorable for me was how random it felt — finding something like this in a small town you weren’t even planning to visit until a few days earlier. It’s a reminder that you don’t always have to chase famous landmarks to come back with something worth photographing. Sometimes the best moments happen when you just stay open to whatever appears along the way.
Ludbreg is often known for its unique title as the “Center of the World,” based on a centuries-old legend and a specific geographic calculation. But small details like this mural show a different side of the town — creative, a bit quirky, and full of small surprises for those willing to slow down and look.
